Operating from our head office, warehouse, and engineering facilities in Cookstown N. Ireland key areas of expertise include Electric Motors, Mechanical Gearboxes & Pumps, Industrial Electrical LV & HV Contracting, Switchboard and Control Panel building, Electrical Design, Specification and Power Generation.

JJ Loughran celebrate 55 years in business.
JJ Loughran significantly invest in new workshop plant and machinery to include Pyrolysis Cleaning & Burn Off and Vacuum Pressure Impregnation (VPI).
JJ Loughran launch their switchboard design and manufacturing division offering design and switchboard builds to 6300A.
JJ Loughran invest in a modern servo repair and maintenance workshop.
JJ Loughran become a Danfoss Service Partner for the maintenance and repair of their VSD’s.
JJ Loughran celebrate 50 years in business.
Electric Motor, VSD & Soft Start on the shelf stock profile is increased to 450kW across the range.
JJ Loughran launch VSD hire division allowing same day dispatch of Danfoss hire drives from stock to up to 450kW throughout UK & Ireland.
JJ Loughran become a member EASA, an international association serving and representing companies in the electric motor, pump and apparatus repair, service and sales industry.
JJ Loughran puts plans in place to create 37 new jobs in Cookstown as part of a £2.2m investment supported by Invest Northern Ireland.
JJ Loughran are selected by worldwide automation giant ABB to become an Authorized Value Provider.
JJ Loughran become the first Motovario Assembly Centre (MAC) in the UK or Ireland, allowing assembly of Co-Axial Inline, Bevel Helical and Parallel shaft gearboxes up to 100mm hollow bore from stock.

The companies contracting division expands into the specification and installation and maintenance of MV & HV Switchgear to 33kV.
Motorvario distributorship awarded to JJ Loughran for N.Ireland and Ireland.
CompEx certification achieved for electrical engineering personnel working in hazardous areas.

ABB G932 service training for electric motors in Hazardous Areas is completed by JJ Loughran engineers; allowing in house modifications and repairs to be carried out to ABB Ex electric motors and generator’s to ABB Standards.
JJ Loughran become a member of the AEMT ‘Association of Electrical & Mechanical Trades’.
AEMT training for the repair of electric motors and generators for hazardous atmospheres completed by the company’s electric motor engineers. Subsequent certification achieved for repairing to standard, hazardous area motors and generators to to BS EN 60079-19, or IEC 60079 – 19.
JJ Loughran become an ABB MSP ‘Motor Service Partner’ allowing access to electric motors up to 710kW from stock and affiliation and partnership with ABB.
Ziehl Abegg distributorship awarded to JJ Loughran for N.Ireland & Ireland.
OLI WAM distributorship awarded to JJ Loughran for N.Ireland & Ireland.
Brook Cromption Control Gear and Electric Motors stocked to 160Kw in 2, 4 & 6 poles.
Powerplus Electric Motors are introduced into stock to 160Kw in 2, 4 & 6 poles.
JJ Loughran become a member of NICEIC; National Inspection Council for Electrical Installation Contracting.
The company expands into the design and building of control panels for the quarrying and food sector in N.Ireland.
The company moves to new 20,000 Sq. Ft. purpose built engineering facilities, warehouse and office’s at Drum Road, Cookstown, Co. Tyrone, N.Ireland.
JJ Loughran open electric motor division and begin rewinding and selling electric motors and associated controls. The business moves to premises in Oldtown Street, Cookstown, Co. Tyrone, N.Ireland.
JJ Loughran is founded by John Loughran and quickly becomes embedded in industrial electrical contracting within the Mid Ulster area of N. Ireland. The business is located in a small countryside farm in the heart of the Sperrin Mountains.

JJ Loughran Have trained CompEx engineers that are approved work in EX01, EX02. Compex is the leading national training, assessment and certification scheme for electro technical staff working in potentially hazardous or explosive atmospheres.
JJ Loughran is an AEMT member, The AEMT is The Association of Electrical and Mechanical Trades founded in 1945. It is an International Association representing leading companies in the service and repair industry. They supply, install, service, maintain, and repair, electric motors, drives, pumps, fans, gearboxes, generators, switchgear, and ancillary.
We are an approved NICEIC member ( National Inspection for electrical installation contracting). NICEIC Approved Contractors is for electrical contractors undertaking design, installation, commissioning and maintenance of electrical installations to BS 7671.
