JJ LOUGHRAN PURCHASE FLUKE MDA 500 MOTOR DRIVE ANALYSER
At JJ Loughran we firmly believe in continual investment of new equipment, with that in mind we have added to our advanced suite of electrical meters and data loggers with the Fluke MDA Motor-Drive Analyser. This advanced instrument will help our engineers to save time and eliminate the hassle of setting up complex measurements, while simplifying the troubleshooting process for variable frequency drives on customer sites.
The MDA-500 Series has a built-in report generator that allows JJ Loughran engineers to quickly and easily generate as-found, and as-left reports with confidence.
The MDA-500 Series allows our engineers to test and troubleshoot typical problems on three-phase and single-phase inverter type motor-drive systems with almost instant results. From power input to the installed motor, the MDA-500 provides us with the measurement capability for the fastest motor-drive troubleshooting.
These include
- Measure key motor-drive parameters including voltage, current, DC Bus voltage level and AC ripple, voltage and current unbalance and harmonics (MDA-550), voltage modulation, and motor shaft voltage discharges (MDA-550).
- Perform extended harmonics measurements to identify the effects of low and high order harmonics on your electrical power system.
- Conduct guided measurements for motor-drive input, DC bus, drive output, motor input and shaft measurements (MDA-550) with graphical step-by-step voltage and current connection diagrams.
- Use simplified measurement setup with pre-set measurement profiles to automatically trigger data collection based on the chosen test procedure.
- Create reports quickly and easily that are perfect for documenting troubleshooting and collaborative work with others.
- Measure additional electrical parameters with full 500 MHz oscilloscope, meter and recording capability for complete range of electrical and electronic measurement on industrial systems.
The Fluke MDA Motor Drive Analysers allows us to test the following parameters, these include:
- Drive input
- Voltage and current unbalance
- Extended harmonic measurements
- DC bus
- Drive output
- Voltage modulation
- Motor input
- Motor shaft voltage
The Fluke MDA 500 also allows us to Verify Shaft voltages
JJ Loughran is also an agent for AEGIS shaft grounding rings, our new Fluke MDA 500 meter allows us to accurately measure shaft voltages, before and after the fitting of the Aegis shaft grounding ring device, thus allowing us to verify the successful operation of the Aegis ring once fitted.
Why fit a Shaft grounding ring?
Variable frequency drives (VFDs) on AC and DC motors create harmful electrical voltages on the motor shaft. If these voltages build up high enough, they will discharge through the motor's bearings, causing fusion craters, severe pitting and fluting, with excessive bearing noise and eventually bearing failure as the result.
The AEGIS® Shaft Grounding Ring prevents electrical bearing damage by creating a path of least resistance. Current from the shaft travels harmlessly through the ring, instead of arcing through the bearings. The AEGIS® Ring's conductive microfibers™ provide the most reliable and long-lived current diversion of any shaft grounding system.
