Pat Comac starts a new chapter!

Last week we saw our esteemed colleague Pat Comac retiring after 47 years of service with JJ Loughran. Pat joined JJ Loughran in the summer of 1974 when the business was situated in Oldtown Street Cookstown as an electrician. Before joining JJ Loughran Pat worked in Moygashel’s Topfield Mill as well as in Coalisland Brick & Pipe that later became known as Tyrone Brick.

Throughout his years of service with JJ Loughran Pat has become a wealth of knowledge in electric motor controls making him an invaluable member of staff and at the same time helping guide and train the younger generation of apprentice electricians. Along with his vast knowledge, Pat’s cheery disposition, humour and willingness to help others have made him not only a valued colleague but also a great friend.

Company founder Sean Loughran pictured with Pat said;

“Pat was a leading member of staff since the day he started with us in Oldtown Street Cookstown. Day or night, whether it was a breakdown or a larger job, Pat always got the job done, always found the electrical fault, always got the plant running and always kept the customer happy. I wish Pat all the best in his well-earned retirement and want to thank him on the contribution he has made to the business over the past 47 years.”

Pat recalled his first posting with JJ Loughran as a 3-month contract to carry out the electrical fit out of a new manufacturing facility for Powerscreen in Kilbeggan, Co. Westmeath with his then work colleague Seamus Lyttle. Since then Pat has worked all over Ireland and the UK for JJ Loughran as an electrical controls electrician and foreman. Pat was especially well known round the Acheson & Glover Group where he worked in the Fivemiltown, Belcoo, Moy, Magherafelt and Pomeroy Plants. AG Group commented;

“Everyone at AG would like to wish Pat a happy and healthy retirement.

Pat has been instrumental in the development and installation of electrical systems at AG and has worked closely alongside our teams for over 40 years. Pat has always been our ‘go-to’ expert for all electrical queries and has trained new members of staff along the way. A massive thank you to Pat from all the team at AG and we hope you enjoy your retirement!”

Pat who is married to Catherine and is father to Sean, Brendan, Catrina and Claire said that the work won’t stop and that he will be kept busy with his eleven grand children not to mention the twelfth that is on the way!

The management and staff at JJ Loughran would like to wish their work colleague and friend Pat all the best in his well-earned retirement, you can finally hang up your JJ Loughran boiler suit!
